Hippos are huge animals weighing around 3,000 pounds and reaching up to 17 feet in length, making them truly gigantic. Add in some self-sharpening teeth and a jaw that can stretch up to 180°, and you’ve got an animal that can do some serious damage.

In this video we see two males fighting over the female’s ‘group’, which is usually made up of about 10 females in total. Although the fight itself did not last long, these combats could last for hours.
Males compete aggressively for the right to mate with females, in incredible gladiator-style fights. These can have terrible consequences; with some games ending with the ʋida of the loser.
