We all watch “Journey to the West” and remember the part where Tang Tang and his students went to the Five Pages shop to steal the precious ginseng fruit of the great fairy Tran Nguyen Tu…
Now you can see the “ginseng” pear in the movie .

Uncle Gao Xianzhang’s baby pear
And the baby-shaped ginseng image in Journey to the West…
Uncle Gao Xianzang, a farmer in Hexia village (Hebei province, northern China) has succeeded in creating a pear shaped like a baby sitting with folded hands.
He molded the pears while they were growing on the tree and after 6 years, Gao had created perfect products.

Uncle Gao Xianzang is showing off a special pear.
This year, Mr. Gao harvested more than 100 “baby-pears” and sold each fruit for £5 (nearly 150k/fruit). “I noticed people selling strange shaped watermelons at a high price, so I thought I could do the same with my pears,” said Uncle Gao.
“It was more difficult than I thought. You have to check when is the best time to put the molds in the pear, and when to remove them.”
“If left for too long, the pears will rot inside. But I managed to get the best results, avoiding errors.”
