Auditioned for Disney Channel 4 times. In March 2004 she had her first audition after a nationwide casting search, executives at Disney liked her so they had her come back to audition for a Lizzie McGuire spinoff titled “Stevie Sanchez”. Selena landed the lead role but the pilot was never picked up, in favor of the hit series Hannah Montana which was also being pitched at the same time. After that, Disney called her back for two more auditions. One of those auditions was for a Suite Life Of Zack & Cody spinoff titled Housebroken/Arwin, which Selena also landed a role (clips of the pilot is available online) and the other was for none other than Wizards Of Waverly Place.

Running from 2007 – 2012, Wizards Of Waverly Place went on to become one of Disney Channel’s most successful shows of all time and rose Gomez to fame. The series has won 3 Primetime Emmy Awards, lasted for 4 seasons spanning 106 episodes, the original movie based off of the series premiered with 11.4 million viewers, making it the 2nd most viewed DCOM of all time behind High School Musical 2 and was cable’s most watched scripted telecast of 2009. The series finale is also the most watched finale of any Disney Channel series ever. Due to popular demand, an hour long “Wizards Return” special was released in 2013.
